(Long time member of Rebekah Lodge, Recipient Diamond Jubilee Medal in 2012).
Passed away on Friday December 13th, 2019 with grace and dignity at the age of 96. Helen is predeceased by her husband William (Bill) Ayres (1996).
Much loved mother of Catherine Gowland and her husband Gary of Waterloo and William R. Ayres and his wife Sharon of Cornwall.
Much loved grandmother of Alan and his wife Laura, Tuula, Matthew, Kenneth and Sarah and her husband Aaron.
Cherished Great-grandmother of Lauren, Rachel, Hannah, Abigayle and Leah.
Predeceased by her brother Doug and Allan and her sister Ruth. Helen is also predeceased by her daughter-in-law Louise (2006). Fondly remembered by her nieces and nephews and their families.
Visitation at Barnes Memorial Funeral Home, 5295 Thickson Rd. N. Whitby on Sunday December 22nd, 2019 from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. The Rebekah Lodge will hold a service at 2:00 p.m. Sunday afternoon. The Funeral will follow immediately in the Barnes Chapel.
Helen will be laid to rest beside her husband during a private service on Monday.
In memory of Helen and in lieu of flowers memorial donations to Lakeridge Health (Cancer Care) or SickKids Foundation would be appreciated by the family.
