Jack and Linda and all the Herder Family: We just learned today of Johanna's passing from this life. What a remarkable woman she was! Such strength and courage in every milestone of life! We were privileged to know and love her here in Lynde Creek Village...and before. We sat with her each Remembrance Day service as she pondered the past and recalled the war trauma, sharing the deep wounds buried in her heart. She was an example of grace to many. We have been blessed to know her. Thank you, Jack, for being part of our life story as well. We offer our deepest condolences.

My condolences to the family,
I remember her as a gentle, praying Mom! She reminds me of the poem my mother-in-law translated from the Dutch: We called it "Mem’s Prayer"
We put the names of our children into your hands, O Lord
We pray you engrave them – that they’ll not fade away,
That not one of them will choose worldly values rather than
The blessings of your church – the church so full of grace.

O keep our children safe Lord – we must let them go
And give them strength when trials come their way.
The world will leave them lonesome and empty in its wake
Help them Lord, give them courage – let them not be afraid.

Each one of them we brought before your throne
You promised to keep your covenant with them
We ask you O Lord, please don’t let them go
We put the names of all our children in your hands.

Blessings, Andy and Joey Buwalda
